Abstract
A front-end task delegates work to one or more back-end tasks. Back-end subsetting is a technique for dividing up the pool of back-end tasks into subsets, one subset per front-end task. This disclosure describes techniques for back-end subsetting that provide optimality and differing trade-offs on such performance parameters as connection balance, front-end churn, back-end churn, subset diversity, subset spread, etc.
