Abstract

Techniques are described herein to provide indoor tracking of people and/or assets. The techniques track infrared beacons by processing video footage captured by preexisting or newly installed indoor surveillance cameras. The infrared beacons can be installed on or incorporated into assets (e.g., ladders in a warehouse, conference room equipment in a shared office space, etc.) and/or be provided as independent apparatuses that can be worn or carried by users. The tracking techniques do not need to perform facial recognition or interact with personal computing equipment of people being tracked (e.g., smartphones, laptops, etc.) and, thus, preserve privacy for people working, moving, or otherwise operating within an indoor location implementing the tracking techniques presented herein.
