Abstract
EVPN-VPWS flexible cross-connect (FXC) multiplexes many attachment circuits onto one shared tunnel. In default mode gives no per-circuit failure signaling: traffic for a failed circuit crosses the core before being dropped; In VLAN-signaled mode restores visibility only by advertising one route per circuit. This disclosure adds a compact liveness bitmap to the single Ethernet auto-discovery route that default FXC already advertises. Each bit position is the normalized VLAN identifier FXC already assigns to each circuit, so no new index is needed. The bitmap rides in a new optional, transitive, variable-length BGP path attribute with version, segment index, sequence number, and length fields; the full current state is resent after a short dampening interval on each change. A receiving provider edge drops or redirects traffic for down circuits at ingress; in all-active multi-homing the peer takes over only the affected circuit, with no change in route count.
