Abstract
A method for forming groups of users in close proximity using mobile computing devices is disclosed. The method provides simple and ad-hoc formation of groups using a software application in a mobile computing device. The application may allow users wanting to join the group chat to activate within a certain time. Upon activation, a group with the group members in proximity is created in the device. Any kind of data-sharing method such as cloud storage or email could be used, and any content such as text messages, audio-visual communications, documents, email, text, images, or videos can be shared among the group.
