Abstract
An autonomous robot printer uses dual safety cliff sensors, each aimed at the surface being printed at a different distance in front of the robot, where cliff detection by the more distant sensor reduces the speed of motion from a higher speed of motion to a lower speed such that detection of the cliff by the closer sensor allows the robot to stop safely before reaching the cliff.
